8. A base to explore Asia

The main island of Singapore, with its imposing skyscrapers, is around 49 kilometers from east to west and 28 kilometers from north to south, so it’s easy to explore. There’s nearby Sentosa Island, with a Universal Studios Theme Park, for example. But it’s also wonderfully close to other Asian countries. A flight from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur takes less than an hour, and Phuket in Thailand takes less than two hours.
